Default What could the cause of rollers breaking?

I just changed my cams and lifters, an now 5 of my rollers keeps breaking. Are the lifters bad or is there a valve problem?

do you have spacers under the lifters? maybe you thought these
camshafts were regrinds when in fact they are not?

just exploring possibilities here.

That's a negative on the spacers, I have a set of brand new Ford racing hot rod cams, an needed to replace the lash adjusters cause they were ticking fro the new lift. Now the new lifters seemed to quit working, 5 of my rollers broke when I tried to start it up after tightening the timing chain to not tap against the cover.

ok no spacers. not sure what's happening, maybe the lash adjusters aren't
getting enough oil to keep them pumped up and tight, against the followers.

It shouldn't be a problem with the valves though right? since they won't touch the piston even if they're 180 degrees off. I had a bit of a timing issue for a while but the car never ran very long til I corrected that. When the old lifters stopped functioning I swapped them, then I had the chain noise from moving the cams out of the way replacing the lifters. When I tightened the chain, I broke a roller, replaced it, then that same one and 4 others broke the next time I tried starting the engine.

I bled out the lifters and am resoaking them. When the new rollers come in is it safe to say the problem may be fixed or am I looking to replaces some valves?

At this point I think it's probably a good idea to verify the
part numbers of the cams you installed. post the part numbers
that are on the cams themselves and we can cross check them
with what they are supposed to be.

i don't see any issue with the valves, so i wouldn't worry
too much about them at this point.

edit: Here are the part numbers that should be on the FRPP 3V cams, also the shorter cam
goes on passenger side.

Cams are the correct ones and on the correct side. Was it possible too mave too much oil in the lifters so they don't compress or are they supposed to have enough to not be able to compress them with my fingers?

i don't think there was too much oil in the lifters.

something isn't right and i would be tempted at this point to pull
the front cover and verify timing, unless ofcourse you are confident it is
correct.

Don't have the damper puller to be able to get the front cover off. Got the Steeda UD pulleys an they use a different gear puller than the OEM one, But I can reverify the timing moving the damper to TDC and re-centering the cams.

another thing you might do is pull the cam covers off and have someone turn the
engine over by hand (using crank pulley bolt) a little at a time and maybe you'll see
what's going on.
