Aluminum Flywheel
#2
Aluminum flywheels are not as strong as steel of course.
Many people like them because they lighten up rotational mass and can make you quicker up top.
Many people do not like them because they lose low end grunt often and can be a pain for some people to drive as a daily driver as far as launching in stop and go traffic. This issue however is really subjective the the driver.
Basically you need to rev the RPMs higher before you let off the clutch with an aluminum one to get the car going is what it boils down to when the take off is concerned.
This is really a very highly debated subject with many people on whether they like them or not. Most people either love them or hate them.
If you value your low end grunt and torque feel then I would not get one.
If you think the rev to a higher RPM may bother you I would not get one.
If you like the feel of more top end then you would be a candidate for enjoying an aluminum flywheel. Also.. changing your gear ratio from say 3.55's to 4.10's would help if you found the take off from a start to be annoying or difficult with an aluminum flywheel. If you have 3.55's or 3.31 gears you might find it a tad difficult to deal with. I have heard some people get used to it. I have also heard many times people hate it so much they jerked them out and went back to steel.
Then again I have heard of some people that did not notice and had no issues with the launch being difficult for them.
It's really a preference. You don't gain or lose horsepower.
It basically is a difference of where you gain or lose the "feel" of power.
And again... it's an issue of whether you would dislike the way you
I myself like the steel ones better.
I love low end grunt.

I was not referring to him saying thank you or anything like that.
I was curious as to whether he actually read the reply or just posted his thread and then did not read the replies.
Sometimes people will post questions and never even look at the thread again.
Only way to really tell is if they post a reply after the question is answered.
Half of what I said was meant in humor hence the lol at the end. But again I wonder if he checked the thread after his initial post to actually get an answer.
