Default Mass Air Flow sensor question

simple question - if I pull my MAF sensor out of my intake elbow but keep it hooked up (exposed in the engine bay) what's going to happen with the car? the issue is that a ram air induction hood is throwing to much air at the MAFs and throwing it off so it's shutting down the engine. I had a friend (who's big into older cars...) suggest I try it but I'm hesitant for obvious reasons. I don't want to explode my engine.

You should be running a custom tune to work with the modifications...just cant change sh** and expect it to work...

put your old intake back on and pick up a tuner. drive it with the factory intake until said tuner arrives. then you should be ok

You'll probably go into limp mode under that condition. Contact Brenspeed or AM and see what kind of tune they can write for you. ANY changes to airflow will freak out the PCM and cause ****ty performance at best; no start often.

alright, first off - I agree with everyone that doing what I suggested in the orginal post is a bad idea. my friend suggested it though so i thought I'd look into it. he's into old muscle and doesn't understand the computer is king under my hood.

now as for a tune I've been looking into this and NO ONE can write me a tune to account for the extra air from the hoodscoops because it causes turbalance and instibility and what not... someone give me a hint here - i just paid $2100 for this hood and it's causing alot of issues. trufiber couldn't help, shelby racing and devolpment (who made a similar hood for the supersnake) told me they blocked off the scoop... and ever tuner i've talked to had said it's impossible =/

would like to see a picture of your engine bay and also of the hood. i'm sure there's
a fix for your problem and maybe with pictures, someone can come up with something.
