3 valves and nitrous
Hey guys, I'm looking for the next step in my mods. I think i might go with nitrous since its cheap and not always putting my motor under boost like a blower will. I plan on keeping it at a 75 shot since I already have FRPP cams, intake manifold, roush Cai, mac long tubes, off road x, exhaust and tuned obviously. Will a 75 shot greatly reduce my engines life? Anybody here with experience on nitrous and the 3 valves, any tips or advice? Thanks

A 75 shot will barely affect your motor & to be honest the 4.6 3 valve motors will very safely handle a 125 shot without having to upgrade your fuel delivery system. A 150 shot is pushing the limit of the stock fuel pump. I ran a 150 shot though with NO PROBLEMS & others have as well. You will need colder plugs when you go 100 shot or larger for sure but some feel the plugs are even needed with a 75 shot. I recomend you start with a 75 shot & get use to it then change your jets to a 125 shot & get the car tuned!!!!! Your treading dangerous waters running nitrous without a tune no matter what shot you run!!!! You will have fun with it though. I had a tune for 93 octane, 93 w/150 shot & a tune that was 110 race fuel w/150 shot. That last tune was for Saturday nights & just really turned the car into an ANIMAL! Hope this helps.

I ran a 100shot with stock plugs for almost a month and went through 2 bottles with a bama 93 tune for the 100 shot. Now I have some plugs in her and my mind is a tad more at ease. Once I get some money put away it's time to get tuned with the 125 shot. I'm pretty much full bolt on besides a manifold and heads also.
I can tell you this...Once you drink from the bottle, you will become a resident drunk so watch out. It's very addicting.

I don't mess around when it comes to my car's reliability. The colder plugs and tunes were an absolute must in my nitrous install lol. So even with all the bolt ons and cams a 75 shot won't really harm my engine? How long and often have you guys used the juice?

I think you may of misread me... I am saying a tune is absoloutly NECESSARY! No matter the shot size especially with cams being part of your mod list. You will need to tune for the 75 & for the 125 & for the 150 if you go that high.I went straight to the 125 shot to save $$$ on tunes. i sprayed countless bottles through that motor on the 125 & 150 shot! Would typically go through 4 bottles on a saturday night....

Hahahahaha yeah I was a bottle fed junkie for a long time! I had the car tuned by Scott Beers which was a crucial member of Diablo tunes when they were produced for the s197s. I dropped my handheld diablo off to him. We dyno tuned for all the fuel octane levels then uploaded them all to my hand held Diablo. I loved the smell of 110 from my exhaust when running it with the 150 shot!

My Shelly was stolen from my drive way & then found about 6 months later. The Bastids gutted her completely.... :-( The car was just a shell sitting on spare tires so they could move her around in the chop shop....Thank the Gods I had gap insurance! Note, I named her Shelly do to the close sound to the man Carol SHELBY name.
