Default Trouble codes p1000, p2197 and p2198

Has anyone ever seen this problem. Just randomly i have now received the codes for p2197 and p2198 the very odd thing about this is both of the codes are dealing with 02 sensor bank 2 sensor 1. And the weird thing is the first code is signal stuck on lean and the second is signal stuck on rich. How can both be happening on the same sensor?? It is causing very bad idle problems and even occasionally when trying to accelerate while im on the freeway it just wont at all until i wait about 5-10 seconds then i can accelerate again.

I do have a tune on it which has been on there for a long time with no problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

List your mods.

What was the last thing you worked on?

The last thing i worked on was the stereo system. Which was the day before. For mods it really isnt much mechanically just the CAI, 91 Street Tune, Flowmaster backs. I do have a 240 amp alternator but that was put in at least 7 months ago with 0 gauge wire leading to a yellow top optima battery. All the other mods are just show mods like lowered, headlights, tail lights, that kind of stuff.

I just cleaned the CAI and put the stock tune back on last night. Then re-put on the 91 street tune. It seems to be doing better but at first it was still idling real bad at stop. After that i havent seen to much of an issue yet. Although i have only driven about 30 miles so far.

Drive it a bit and report back.

If there is no issue, great. But if there is, look around where you were working on the stereo stuff and see if you messed something up. Several times when reassembling my car or working on something, I screwed something else up. Sometimes it took a few weeks to figure it out.

Well... if the front O2 is broken lean, then the car would try to add fuel... assuming the rear sensor is working, it would then read rich. The rear O2 sensors are for emissions purposes to verify the cats are doing their job.

Still having problems I am going to change the O2 sensor today. Hopefully that will resolve the issue. Thanks for the help guys. Danzcool i completely understand what you are saying and i have read a lot about that but I still have never heard of or seen the same exact sensor reporting stuck on lean and rich. Which seems really odd to me but I am no mechanic expert that is for sure. I know a bit but definitely no expert.

So last night i got the o2 sensor and the tool kit to change it. Not only is this sensor in the worst position on earth you have absolutely no room to remove it. I tried for quite awhile. I unplugged it and after trying for a very long time to remove it I just plugged it back in and will try again this weekend. But something did change at least. After the engine light came back on this time I am now only get the to lean code. The to rich code is no longer coming on. So I am assuming the o2 sensor is the problem indeed. Any thoughts?

an old trick, is get a (relatively cheap) i thnk 22mm maybe bigger box wrench, and using a saw cut a slot big enough to slip over the wires in it, then use that... though depending on how long they've been in there and if they are hot or not you might start stripping it... there is also a specialty socket that is made for it as well, it looks like a deep well socket with most of one side cut out of it

Thanks guys although the thing still won't come out and now is quite a bit stripped. Even had someone at a dealership try and get it out and he couldn't he said the only way now is to take off the manifold and then it will come off a lot easier. At that point with that much work i would almost just want to put new headers on. The weird thing now is though that I am getting error codes p0152 02 circuit high voltage p0174 system too lean and p2197 signal stuck lean. Those are all for the same bank. I am no longer getting the rich codes. I sure hope it is the sensor and not something more major.
