2010 trouble starting
Just purchased a 2010 GT with automatic transmission. Car has 163,000 miles on it. Seems to not want to start up with the first crank but always seems to work the second time I try it after a couple seconds. The battery appears to be very low on the gauges before it starts, but goes to a normal position once it actually starts. Is this an issue with the starter? Alternator? Battery? Just curious what’s actually wrong with it because it does seems to start every time, but it just takes 2 tries. Once it starts up it runs beautifully with no issues whatsoever. Is this a common occurrence for anyone else?
The battery could be weak if the car was left standing for a while, so you could give it a trickle charge for a few hours.
Another potential issue could be the fuel pump check valve allowing fuel pressure to bleed away when the engine's off. Try turning the ignition key on but allow five seconds or so before you turn it to start. See if the engine then fires up first time.
