Default Left cam reluctor wheel

I have a 06 gt 4.6 3v that i bought at auction and it wouldnt run right if at all. While removing the timing chain cover i noticed the reluctor wheel on the L side is in the same position as the R side. All the pics i see online show the 3 finger pointing up at the L and the cam gear. I looked up the carfax maintenance report and see that in 12/19 the driver side cam gear (which is definitely new) was replaced and is my guess as to why it is not running. Can someone confirm this for me before i put it all back together? And yes i have all the timing marks lined up.

Also, the chain guide on the R side granaded into a dozen pieces.

Looks like someone has been inside the engine before and didn't install the cam gear/phaser onto the cam correctly.

Since the repair showed up on the Carfax it tells me a professional shop or dealership did this It proves to me dumbasses can work at those places too

yeah, you are correct, 3 fingers on the L, 2 on the R. I would replace that since you are able to get to it easily. that spring looks hella sprung and timing on that side is 180* from where it should be. I hope there hasn't been any valve to piston contact. did you do a compression test at least on the engine? IIRC, there is an updated phaser design out and id get a set from a reputable company (FRPP for one example) and replace the pair. freshen up everything else as well..tensioners, guides, oil pump if your so inclined while you have the cover off, no sense in having one of those fail anytime soon just to have to dig back into it. good luck
