do cars that have automatic transmissions and that are rear wheel drive lose more power to the wheels than if the have a manual tranny?

YES!!!!!!!! same with FWD cars and AWD cars, takes more power to run an auto than a manual

Auto - great for dragging with lots of power, commuting
Manual - good for everything else

yes autos take a lot of power to run because of the torque converter, but they are far more to your advantage in drag racing, due to the fact that they shift faster, and more accurate than any human can.

manuals are good in trucks for pulling heavy loads and when you live in the hills.

uhh you can swap the rear gears in any RWD car, wheather it be auto or manual. theres no point in changing internal tranny gears though, unless your big into circuit racing, and you study the track only 20-22 hours a day and spend the other 2 hours perfecting your gear ratios.[8D]

mines manual. i thought it was just the gear in the back? i've got the 3.55 so why not go to 3.73 for more acceleration. granted i'll prob do a cam swap and a few other things first for more horses.

And go for 4.10's in the rear for some acceleration [8D]
