Wife and me bought a 86 Plymouth Turismo new. Same motor and trans. No problem at all with traded it off for the 94 Jeep. Had 120'000 on it. Wife had a 82 Escort when we got married traded it for the Plymouth. It had 42,000 on it And had bad motor blowing oil. So don't get one of the old ones of them.

the motor and trans will most likely last you, if you drive your cars easy. But I beat the **** out of mine, first the trans slipped from burnouts, then the motor started to knock after I hauled ***** going up hills chasing my buddies del sol. I pulled the whole head off (I wish I still had my stang cause this car was alot more complicting to work on then the 2.3), I put everything back together after replacing the headgasket, lifters, and valve springs. I put it back together just fine with no problems (by myself I might add my dad helped me lifter the head off) I had some timing issues at first (just advanced the dist one notch), it fired right up. i had the down pipe disconnected and it was hella loud and I didnt think I heard the knock, so i was stoked. Hooked it back up, fired it up knock knock knock knock knock... I was pissed. i drove it to work for a few days, then i went to the store and the motor pretty much blew up. i just laughed, rolled it into my driveway and called a scrapper. As he was on his way i was gutting my car for everything.
