Okay, I could do with a bit of vacuuming, but all the big pieces of Camaro interior are gone to the dump.

Also I found the other piece to the hitch. It ain't much, but it's fine for a jet-ski. Here it's on:

Seems there's about 40 of you following this, I'm delighted! So, last night I found a half hour of free time, and pulled the rear shocks off the car. Anyone want pics? I didn't take any, and I hope noone needs them. The left rear shock was absolutely dead. It couldn't've moved ANY easier. Today I'm making a place to put that LS-series V8, so I can start on the engine bay. Monday I'm spending my lunch hour getting my 4-door '85 Ford LTD inspected and registered. It's a 3.8, with a 2.73:1 7.5" axle. It'll be my winter driver. So, my next pics should be of cleaning up the engine bay, and one of the nose of the car with the hood shut. That's it for this weekend.

guys, I just did a horrible thing. I just spent $800 on an '01 LQ4. Why? Aside from the practical considerations, Consider that if I have my casting number 241 heads shaved 0.030" and install them, that gains me a full ratio of compression. Very good up here in this thin air. Consider that at sea level with a stock LQ4, just installing the GM "HOT" cam puts it to 483 hp at 6000 rpm and 450 ft-lbs at 5000 rpm. onsider that adding the compression to the sea level 483 hp engine pushed it to 502 HP. The 241 heads have the exact same combustion chamber design as the LQ4 and LQ9 heads. No, they don't flow quite as well, but the airflow tests don't account for the advantage of smaller ports at high elevation. The 241 heads have the same valve sizes as the LQ4 and LQ9. The 243 heads used on the LS6, LS2 and LS4 are worth 6% at all rpm, when swapped onto an LQ4, but half of that is the improved combustion chamber. So, I'm getting an engine that's got between 9.25:1 and 9.41:1 and aluminum heads, that'll take 8 psi of boost, stock, with intercooling, or I can swap heads.
Anyway, this'll really slow progress on the 'stang, but when this deal came along, I couldn't let it go.

Progress! In the spirit of cheap, I'm forgoing the forged pistons for now, and since I'm at 4500' elevation, I'll be using 305 heads on dished stock cast pistons. Figure $200 for the used 350 from Pick-N-Pull, including the core charge, and tax. In my case add $26 for gas there and back, and $4 for 2 burgers and gatorade. The mounts are the previously mentioned Morosos, here:

that second pic is for a different part number. The first pic is the part that bolts to the engine block. So there's $55, plus about $11 for boxing and handling.
That makes the total so far: $1096, including the $800 for the car.

Update: Life threw the unexpected at me, but now things are settled, so this week I will be getting the 5.3 out and the engine bay cleaned. The LTD has an electrical issue, the battery is good, but turn the key and nothing. Try the headlights and nothing. Ford electrical is different from GM, and the Ford electrical is new to me. But if I can get this resolved before mid-week, then the 350 will go into the 'stang this week, with pics, especially of the mounting.

The 5.3 is out! Oh, how I wish I had a pressure washer. Or even a car dolly to tow it to the car wash. take a look:

Now in these next pics you'll see the extra holes I drilled when I installed the chevy 4.3L V6 using the Moroso mounts. I still have that set of mounts, so I'll position those and get pics, when the time comes. In the meanwhile, these next pics also show how much cleaning I need to do.
