Like the title says.Im from the otherside. the V8 side of these cars. Ive had my 93 hatch 5.0L for 3 yrs now. However that isnt why Im here. I actually just got this 93 LX Coupe with a 2.3L. Its an heirloom(spelling) so I have owned the vehicle since 93 basically. My grandfather drove it off the dealer lot brand new.
Here are some Pics. (My 5.0L is in there too. Cant leave my baby girl out.)

One thing though. I have no knowledge of this motor. I know my way about the 5.0L with my eyes closed. With the 2.3L not so much. Im under the impression the water pump is bad. Leaks all the fluid from where it looks to me that the pump is located. What does this involve? A write up maybe? and do I need to change the timing belt at the same time. Thx in advance guys. Hope you guys are as cool as the 5 litre guys on this site.

I haven't seen very many 93 2.3s that clean, kudos! (Wanna trade?). Welcome aboard, we'll try to be as helpful as the 5.0 guys are. The water pump isn't too hard to replace as I understand, but I'm not the right person to do a write-up on that. What are your plans for the car? Personally I think that the 2.3s have a lot of versatility in that you can swap in a turbo engine for power and still get great economy, or you can tweak the stock engine for a little more power and a bit more economy, too. I'm sure your 5.0 will be more fun, but most of us get sick of 105 hp and will end up modding or swapping somewhere down the line.

well as far as plans go, being that I do have the 5.0L, power on this one is no issue. for the Immediate future it will be a daily driver. Being that The car originates in my family, I dont want to pull that motor out in favor of a swap. Id like to slowly restore the car to original Manf. specs and make it a show car. Like you said we all get tired of the 105Hp eventually, but thats why I have 5Litre, which will be going under the knife now that it is no longer my daily. and when it comes back up it will def be something wicked.

Got the pulley off and the belts, and hoses and it started to rain. Gotta love the Miami summer rain.

After a busy *** week at work, I finally got around to changing the pump. Def didnt need a write it. Took me 15mins total to swap it out. Car runs awesome, A/C blows cold as hell(That matters in Miami). Now i just need to put the 5.0L on the down low and swap the insurance and tag over to this one.

Welcome. I would be a good idea to change the timing belt if don't know how old it is. Luckly the 2.3 is a noninterference engine. But here is site on how to change it. It is a piece of cake. http://www.stinger-performance.com/tech.html By the way Welcome to 2.3 side. Hope we can help Maurice
