FUEL STARVED SVO!!!!!!!!
I have a 1986 SVO with 40,000 miles that has been stored since 2004.It has been kept on a trickle charger and driven about 5 miles every 2 months. It has always ran perfectly. The charger failed and drained the battery completely.I jumped it and it ran o.k.for about 10 minutes, started surging, then died.If you spray it,it will idle for couple seconds, then die.I was told the computer needs at least 13.4 volts to re-initialize the computer so I installed a new battery,no change.I am an old school points and carb guy and know nothing about computers and injectors so I started at the tank.I installed a new fuel pump, strainer and in-line filter,no change. The junk Haynes manual says there is a fuel pump relay but the book doesn't tell or show you where it is and I sure can't find it.I'm 60 years old and this is the only car I've owned that has the pump in the tank so I guess that tells you what I think about post-1975 cars.I by-passed the inertia switch and still no change.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. P.S.-Excellent idea putting the pump in the tank.Don't place it on the frame next to the tank where it's easy to get at.Incredible.
