Default Need A Little Help

Alright I already know its not worth to put much money into a 2.3 but I was just wondering is there anything to really put into it to give it a little bit more pep. Im not trying to make it something it isnt but im curious about if theres something for a reasonable price to add a little hp

yes, a ranger header (ebay)

an intake (ebay)

custom exhaust (visit your friendly local muffler shop)

and there is a multitude of internal parts because of the circle track cars

I actually found a site that carries brand new 2.3 headers, Im thinking about buying one but do they do alot for the engine?

What kind of intake, cold air or just different set up then i already have?

By exhaust do you mean complete system from engine to tail pipe or just mufflers and junk?

sorry about all the questions, just like to get some ideas.

Another thing to consider is that tranny, you have the A4LD auto, right?

They have a notoriously weak O/D, I wouldn't go crazy lol

I've wanted to modify mine too, but if I did that slushbox would have to go...

I think it's about $200 bucks to have a valve job done on a head, and I can't imagine shaving it being that much cheaper.
Also consider you'd most likely have to pull the head yourself.

Yeah... like i said earlier im not really looking to go crazy and spend alot of money on a 4 banger... its my daily driver as i save for a cobra. i just wish i could give it a little bit more pep and not swamp gears, shave the head and what not... i only paid 1200 for it and havent had any problems with it and had it a good 5 months, just doesnt seem very pratical to do all that stuff for a 4 banger. but i understand where you guys are coming from.

If you're up to the work you could replace the exhaust, header to tailpipe. I've heard you can get like 20 horses that way, but I've never personally done it. I myself was never much on 2.3 engines, but some of these four banger guys say they're bulletproof
if they're built right. I just got mine because I'm partial to the bodystyle lol

I got mine because my first car was on its last leg (piston rings went) smoke was everywhere haha, but i came across my 2.3 at this mans house talked him into selling it, love how well it is on gas... but its so slow haha, i found long tube header, and shortys not sure im going to replace the exhaust though because the last owner had it all redone not even 2 years ago. But thats going to be done later on.
