Default 1991 Mustang Convertible 4 cyl LX

I was wondering if anyone can give any advice on this matter: I recently got my top replaced. Now the top won't go down properly, I have to give it a little push at start up (it comes up properly though). The mechanic is saying that the cylinder is old and once he put the new top on, the tightness would cause this and he claims the cylinder would have to be replaced to correct this. Any comments would be appreciated, thanks.

When I replaced my top, I had to pull it down to latch it when I put the top up lol
I think you can also add oil through the trunk, it could be low.
Of course, you are the only one who knows exactly how well it worked
before you replaced the top.
