Default 93 Mustang - Coolant Fan controller

The coolant fan isn't working on my daughters 93 LX. I tested the motor and it spins fine. The next step is to check the fan controller. The Haynes manual says it is near the steering column. Anyone know what this controller looks like?

Fan controller on 93 is black box on passenger fender. Did you actually hook 12 vdc to it. Could be free and still be bad. Does it run when ac is on if you have ac? Oh forgot if haven't said hello and welcome. Then welcome and hello glad to have you.

What do you mean test the motor, did you turn it on or did you spin it with your hands?

All,

Itested the motor by hooking up a negative lead to a ground and a positive lead to the battery. The motor kicked on and the fan spins freely. As for the AC, the blower motor works but it's only blowing hot air. A few months back I converted it to R-134 and it ran fine. After it stopped blowing cold air, I started troubleshooting and according to the Haynes manual, the fan should run all the time on 93 Mustangs equipped with AC.

mg man 75,
Thanks for the welcome message and advice on the location of the fan controller. Seems I been looking in the wrong place. Do you know if there is any way to test the controller to see if it is bad?

i speak from exp. there is no way to testthe relayi had the same problem (same year too)
me and my father bypassed the rely and everything else we attached it to the fuse box on the fuse that runs the radio so now the fan comes on then the key is in the on posission the only bad thing about doing it that way is now i cant listen to the radio if the can is not runnign because it will drain the battery

P.S. the black box that has the all of the fuses in it is 150.00 from ford
i had a chance to open my old box up and there is nothing you can check

You have to turn your key to acc. so you can run the radio and not the fan (turn the key COUNTER clockwise)

I found a website that list values for electronic with part numbers in the black box if you know someone to do electronics. I tried to get their again I guess gone if needed can scan and e-mail or happen on another will repost. What I would do go to j-yard or pull a part and get used one.
