Another thought about "custom powerplants" a 3.8L super coupe motor in a fox body? that would be fun. Or a turbo'd 3.8L in a fox...maybe a t-4? just food for thought.
Its been done[8D]

the foxbody came with a 3.8L carbed, so you could put the EFI model in[8D]

Let's see if we can revive this post.

Can the 2.3 Duratec be installed in a fox body mustang?? (2001-2008 ford ranger engines)
A T-5 bellhousing is needed and be found here : www.quad4rods.com
What about engine management??options
1. Can the Ranger computer and harness be integrated into the Mustang??
2. Stand alone systems (megasquirt etc.....)
Do they use the same motor mounts or need different one (aftermarket or fabricated/custom)

It would be interesting to see if this can be done.
I havea 93' 2.3 coupe and would like to upgrade it's powertrain while keeping it economical.

First things first welcome. Well check here they seem to have a bellhousing.

Says it is in the Ranger that is rwd. The standard shift truck trans probably would not work. But maybe automatic. Should be a 4 or maybe 5 speed use the truck wiring in the mustang. A lot of work. This is what I am doing to the MGB 2.3 turbo. Using the turbocoupe wiring and autometer gauge.
Megasquit would probably easier but cost. Would need to check with them before buying.

The Cobra idea has been done. I think he is wanting something differant. A Cobra drivetrain probably would not be reasonably priced. Let us face most people in the section of forum can't afford a expensive drivetrain and put gas in it. I read in the hotrod link a 4 cylinder duratec can go 300 hp. Maybe expensive but who say it has to be done in one shot. Now that gets interesting. Affordable on gas and power. Best of both worlds.

Amazing what will find on net.

While he mentions a few problems. One of them is clutch cable. This is solved with a t-5 hydralic clutch bellhousing I THINK some of the turbocoupe's has this. A crank sensor also a problem. Maybe a front mounted one. Like maybe one made for the 2.3 converted to edis.
