Default New Flywheel problems

I am having a problem with a new clutch kit that I purchased a few months ago and was hoping that you guys could help. I purchased a Valeo OEM kit to replace the one on my 93, I decided to replace the clutch, pp, and flywheel after having to drop the trans for a busted fork. Everything came as a kit in one box so I assumed that all would match correctly, after putting the flywheel on the car the pressure plate would not match up to the dowel pins in the flywheel. So I took the flywheel off and it seams as the pins are 1/4" farther apart then my original. The new pressure plate is an exact match to my old and will fit on my old flywheel but not the new one. Has anyone ran into this before? I contacted the company with no response, but I need to get this back together soon. Any ideas of what I could do? can I cut the dowels off and use only the bolts to secure it? or run the risk of purchasing another flywheel in hopes this is only a fluke. any help would be appreciated. thanks.
