My engine is very reliable. The only issue I had early on was heat... A fluidyne radiator and electric fans solved the problem. Here in Texas it regularly gets over 100 degrees in the summer, its brutal on any engine... anyway, because of my experience I would never use a used block... new all the way... who knows what a little corrosion in the waterways would do... oh, and don't worry about ricers... if you build the engine right you should easily be in the 11's without any gas or presure...

what trans and rear gear set up were you using?

Others-----what reliability issues am i getting into with a 408 or bigger? can a new radiator with dual electric fans work out the overheating issues? i am virtually NEVER in traffic, but would want to drive the car on the road to a 'drive in' or two in the future. the reliability thing is very important--this will not be a drag car---weekend car but driven every nice day as possible in central Kentucky. mostly 80-90 temps. more than that and i'd roast in the car with top up or down.

i do have A/C and power steering and hope to keep them.

if i could get the 351 build up to run my car in the high 12's i would be a happy man. Again, i just dont want to be handed my 'hat' by some ricer or SRT4.

^^ Yea, it doesnt get that hot in NJ. Well it might but its not a regular that it hits 100 degrees. I dont think that I will be driving my car when its that hot anyway considering I tossed the AC (weight issue ). I still think that Im going to go with the 357W w/ the blower because I do a decent amount of highway driving (pick up gf, work, etc.) soooo I guess thats my plan.

We used a C-4, manual valve body, 3000 rpm converter.
BTW, we never had a heat issue and here in Arizona I've raced at midnite and it's still 102.....
We also used a 4.11 gear with a mini-spool in a 9" Ford.
Car was a '67 Mustang.
You should be able to go quicker than we did with the same equipment as we never have air that's under 3500' and most of the time we are 5000'+.
Should be easy to run 12's in a Fox body/351w/4.10 car.....
