Default headers hitting...

Hey guys, I've got a problem that I didn't have before, my headers are hitting my steering shaft, it's right there on the knuckle, I don't know why it is doing this! These headers didn't do it in the convertible. Should it try and tighten down the collector bolts a little more so that maybe it'll pull the headers in somewhat? By the way, the car sounds AWESOME! it's loud and it sounds just mean.

Yeah, but I didn't have a problem with them when they were on the vert.

I don't beleive so, does anyone think that it would be a wise idea to take that header off and that side of the h-pipe off and see what's wrong with it? Maybe I just need to tighten the collector nuts down some more and maybe it will pull it down. if that don't work I guess that I'll just get some BBK's.

Oh yeah, one more thing, I can hear the valves and the car seems a little bit slower, I might get a catted mide pipe.

Well, I prob wouldnt waste the money and go buy another set of headers. With MAC, you have to MAKE them work! First, do like you said and tighten everything down and make sure thats not the problem. Take a picture of the problem and post it.....

Yeah, these are shorties, and you're right, I'm on a budget and it would be waste to spend money on another set of headers, it's just wierd they worked so well on the vert and now they're being wierd on the hatch. I wonder if that sound that I'm hearing is the header bolts, they've probably already came loose. I'm going to go home and retighten everything, header bolts, collector nuts and the h-pipe to cat back nuts. Do you guys think that I might have lost power from this set up?

I had the same problem w/ my BBK's. I put a couple od shims under the d/s motor mount to lift it just enough so it wouldn't rub. Problem solved.
