Default GT Tire Sizes Needed

Hopefully someone out there can help me. I recently purchased new wheels for my 89 GT. I have two 17x8 wheels for the front and two 17x9 for the rear. Do I need to put different size tires on the front and rear, so the rear of my car isn't sitting lower than the front??? If I put 215/40ZR17 on the front what would be a good size to put on the rear???? I want the rear of my car to be the same height or a little higher than the front end!!!
Thanks for any help!!!!!!!!!

I would put at least a 235/45 or 245/45 up front (preferably 245) and a 245/45 or 255/45 out back (if you can fit wider go for it) . I'm not sure about the clearance issues w/ a fox car seeing I don't have one but I see guys around here w/ 245's/255's on foxes. On my factory 17X8's I have 245/45's and on my aftermarket 17X9's I have 255/40's.

In your case keep w/ the same profile ie) 45 front and back seeing the difference in width is less than 40mm.

from what I've heard 275 is as wide as you can go out back w/out having to roll fenders or tub. Up front I test fitted some 245/45 on my 17x9's and it was a little iffy, a good bump while turning could have made a mess out of the fender. So I've got 225/45 on 17x9 (and it looks funny) up front and 245/45 on the rears, but I'm thinking about going to a 275/40 or whatever the size is. I'm going to get an aftermarket speedo so the calibration isn't an issue.
