I have a 94 GT and it started to make a nasty noise on the rear wheels, i took it to a mechaninc and they told i needed 2 disk, a caliper and brake pads for the rear, and the total would come up to over $700 with labor and parts, is this good? or does any one know were i can buy this parts for cheap?

don't replace just one caliper. do them both at the same time.

rotors, calipers, pads - shouldn't be anywhere near $700 for street stuff. Any auto parts store should have them. Just do the labor yourself - brakes are stupid easy (especially discs because you don't have to mess with getting a bunch of springs back in the right place).

And if you look around you can find somebody to help you.

Hey gstang heres what I would do get some estimates, Then you call parts store and get some prices. It will give you a better idea whats going on. They jack prices up on parts big time. I was in the brake business for a long time. Or do it yourself save a bundle Take no brake work lightly.

DIY definately. even a ricer could do a brake job, maybe. also i dont think you need all the stuff besides the rotors. get new rotors first and see if that fixes it, it should. mechanics always tell you more than you really need. they are just in it for the bling bling

yeah thas tru, but i kinda trust this guy sinice his my homies uncle and last time he switched my tire to a new rim and dint charge me any thing, and he also dint charge any thing to check what was rong wiht it, he also said that he will do the job as a side job and charge me less cuz the place were he works at dint want to give him more discount or some thing. he told me i needed to change rotors calipers and brake pads becuase the caliper got stuck and ate up the brake pads, but yeah i like the idea of doing it my self, if any of you guys would like to take a look at this rotors i found in ebay and tell me if their any good i would really appriciated its 4 rotors front and rear for about $190 shipped http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEBWA%3AIT

Hey GTStang that seems like a good price if you can't find them any ceaper jump on them. I think the calipers might be pricey but make sure you replace both. Let me know how you do.
