The car shouldn't stall if the base idle is set correctly, but most do. The car will start with it unplugged if you press the throttle plate slightly. Hope I am not butting in to the conversation. Just my experience as a tech for ford for 8 years.

The damn thing stranded me 100 miles fromthe house sunday. Good thing I have mustang buddies in the town I was in. I borrowed a distributor, IAC,and coil and relpaced them all and seem to have fixed the whole problem so outta all the parts i replaced not sure exactly which fixed it but it runs great now
