yea im not sure but when i pull my spout out timing falls like 10*. I pull my spout out when the car is off so i don't get my hand in there but i plug it back in when it running[:@]

i'm gonna steal this thread since he hasn't reponded... with the timing light i know it's supposed to shine on the timing chain but i can't see the numbers on the chain should i wipe it with a damp rag or soemthing?

well first you wont see the timing chain, that is behind the timing cover, second i find it best to time the car at night, JUST WATCH YOUR HANDS. the numbers are on the balancer. take some chalk and rub it over the balancer than take a rag and wipe it off. and the numbers should show up. white chalk works the best.

because the numbers are indented into the casting, so the chalk will stay in the numbers but when you wipe it off, there will be no chalk on the rest of the balancer. p.s. don't use a wet rag, make sure its dry lol

i agree as if you painted the block and all the harp bal on the crank etc is right hard to see the #'s so chauk would fill in the indents for the lines and # on it.

yep, you could also spray white paint over the numbers, let it dry, than chalk the balancer to fill the numbers in, than spray black over your white let it dry, than take a wet rag or a air compressor and clean the numbers out. and boom you dont have to worry about not seeing you numbers for a long time.
