RE: Who is the smartest Engine Guy in here?
I believe you have an early 80's 255 cubic inch V8. They came in the 80's shoe box fairmonts, tbirds,Zephers. Here are the specs; 3.68 bore,3.00 in stroke, and it has the same deck hieght as the 260, 289,302 and shares the same main bearing diameter, the same rod bearing size and it has the longer 260/289 inch connecting rods. If you look on the bottom of the block at the frost plug area neer the rear of block you will find an engine number like D1 or D2 if it is a C5 it would be a 260 1960's engine. My bet is it is the 1981 or 82 255.

RE: Who is the smartest Engine Guy in here?
1) only '85 and later 302 blocks are made for the roller set-up.
2) an '85 will have a code saying 'E5' as E was Fords prefix code for 80's stuff.
3) any 260 block will be a code 'C' and I think they were only made '63-'66 anyway. They are a 4" bore and a 2.87 stroke. The 302 (5.0) is a 4" bore and 3" inch stroke........
