What would go bad first?

What would go bad first?
hey fellas....Im lookin at a 93 GT that has been properly maintained with 130k on it. But Im concerned with how reliable it will be in many miles to come. So I was wondering what you all think I would have to do first or which would go bad first...the tranny (manual) or the engine (5.0L)? If I bought the car I would have a rebuild done to the engine no matter what, just when is the question and what will need replaced/fixed first the engine or the tranny? Thanks everyone.

RE: What would go bad first?
I had numerous mustangs and motors are very tough (the heads are truck heads). If the oil was changed consistently the engine can last as long as 200,000 miles do burning outs all day. If you start to change compression in the motor with trick flow heads etc. you then have a chance of blowing the bottom end out. Basically, if you want to do some mods like exhaust, headers, intake etc. and leave the motor stock you can get some mileage out of the motor. Also, if you want a nice power increase these motors come out of the factory with their timing retarded, you can advance the timing as much as 20 degrees. All cars are different so increase the timing until you here pinging; make sure you use premium gas (i.e. 93 octane). As far as the manual trans goes you should be okay unless you start producing over 350 + horses>>>>that won't be until you rebuild the motor.

Take care of your car and nothing really goes wrong. Do a tune when when you are supposed to. The fox's had problem with the TFI though so you may want to change it now before your car shuts off while driving.

Stock 89 here, engine and trans seem to last forever.
small things will give you headaches
bad O2 sensors
water pump
alternator
plug wires
radiator
the normal stuff that starts to go at +100k miles
wouldnt worry about anything major breaking
also, stick your head up under the dash and look at the relays
and switched buried back up in there. I've been finding some old
corroded relays up in there when stuff like my power windows quit working

I want to know too...what is TFI? Also...I kinda figured with so many miles that, that would put alot of wear and tear on the internals of the engine and start breaking it down little by little eventually leading to needing a rebuild?
