I was wondering, are the new production 5.0 blocks any stonger or atleast better than late model 5.0 blocks. and in your opinions, which is the better aftermarket block(not including dart or sportsman)?

well ya see i have a 95 gt with about 115K mi. It burns a little smoke but i find it burns more oil than it should. I have many mods on the motor, so i figured if i gotta put new rings, then i guess i would do new pistons. then why not just a new short block.

347 all the way... if you want to keep the 302 block. Just put a 460 into it. Blow everyone away.

believe me i would, but $ is an issue. that is why i was asking about the frpp block first. i want to keep it streetable, so i would go 331 over 347, or 351/392.

thanks man....I guess i'm gonna save up cash and go w/ a man-o-war shortblock or d.s.s shortblcok 331. Anything i could do now to not burn off the oil? Does oil/engine treatments work all that great?

dude, all roller blocks from Ford are the same. The only ones that are not are the Ford racing 4 bolt and dry sumps....as for burning oil, Ford states that 1 quart every 1500 miles is normal for a 5.0 with forged pistons. The hypers used 93 and later have tighter clearances and burn less oil, BUT they don't like boost as much

well, i'm a fan of N/A for a streetdriver so i'd set the comp. high. I really want a 331 stroker kit, but i think it would be pointless for my block.
