K&N air filter

K&N air filter
Ok I had to start this post because it has been bugging me for sometime now. When we get newbies on here everyone says to get a K&N air filter, but correct me if I’m wrong here, you have to oil the K&N right? and if you have oil on the filter and the motor sucks that oil into the intake tube that oil gets on your MAF which makes dirt stick to it, so then the end result is poor performance. Just thought I would throw that out there and see if anyone thinks the same on this? thanks

RE: K&N air filter
Yes that could be a possibility if you saturate the filter with oil. It is best to apply it sparingly and let it sit out in the sunlight and allow the filter to wick up the oil. If it is a little light in areas you just clean up the spots that are bare of oil and you are good to go. I would think that the filter, if not over oiled, would not disperse residue throughout the intake track or the mass air meter.

RE: K&N air filter
see the thing is i have never used a k&n and i have never had a maf problem, so that makes me think if anyone is using one that might be there problem. you know if the car does not want to idle right or it feels like it lost power.
