5.0 swap in LX fox with 4 cyl
Hey I found a sweet 88 LX that was a 4 cyl. A previous owner transplanted a 5.0 but he never could get it running. The current owner has no clue on what needs to be done (like me!), so the car is cheap (And comes with a 86 Gt w/no engine). My question is, how hard of a job is this gonna be? I know NOTHING about 5.0's, im new to mustangs...
Also, do they make an EFI intake for a 5.8?

as long as the v8 electrical harness came with the car, you should be able to do this. the actual swap itself is the hardest part. find out if your problem is with fuel or spark and go from there. make sure everything is plugged in, your fuel pump kicks on when you turn the key on, and make sure your timing is correct. a wiring diagram could help when you find out if its fuel or spark your missing. if worse comes to worse, carb' it!

look at the main harness and count the number of injector connectors. if its still the 4 cyl. harness, you can bet the computer is still for a 4 cyl too. go to a junkyard and find yourself a 5.0 computer and harness from an 89 or later mustang so youll have mass air. the tranny from the 4 cyl will bolt right up, but its weaker than the 5.0 unit. youll also need the double hump crossmember for the dual exhaust.
