I've always heard that 295 is the biggest you can go without tubbing it out.

But this is hearsay, and not from experience. I did read an article once in MM & FF that said you can go all the way up to 315's with the 94 and ups, but the 87-93 hatches can handle 295 supposedly. The article also mentioned that hatches have a tiny bit more room than notches do. I don't know the reason for this or if it's true. Hope this helps.

I got a question. Whats the widest tire you can get to seal on an 8inch rim. Cause i got 8inch Draglites in the rear with 235r/60/15's and im wanting to put some mickey thompson slicks under the *** end of my car. I already took out my quads and rolled my fenders. So i got all the prep work done. Anybody know what it is though?

www.tirerack.com has charts that say what tires will fit on different size rims. just pick out a tire and then click on specs.

because as the tire gets wider, it proportionally gets taller.... a 245/45/17 is the same height as a 275/40/17 and is the same height as a 315/35/17

Yeah, because the middle set of numbers is the percentage of the width which equals your height.

Does a 17 inch rim get better traction than a 16 inch rim?
