Driving Without Mufflers
glasspacks- jegs or summit- cheap! like 20$ each they are a straight through design with baffles on the side- i like them- many times they don't fit perfectly though so if you are good with a welder you'll be good.
aight guys im going to go into this. first, you dont want to do that to your mufflers. they will sound like a big hillbilly truck if you do. the second best thing you could do is get glasspacks. but the best thing to do if you want it loud and deep and still keep your backpressure is to get a set of single chamber flowmaster race mufflers and have them dumped right out of the end of th muffler under the car. they sound like racecars with the single chamber mufflers. if you want loud and bad try that.
I had straight pipes on the vert, headers o/r h-pipe and a straight piped cat back. It sounds like my truck at idle, but, it just SCREAMS at 2500-3000 rpms and up, has a lotta getty up and go in the high rpms. I would NOT reccomend it. Get some glass packs and you will be very happy.

I will cut a squared hole on each muffler, the top side. Then , hollow it. Then weld the piece back.

"slp loudmouths" is just a fancy way of saying glasspacks.

JD has a really good point. if you want loud and a really nice tone go with a 2.5 mac cat back with the 3.5 SS tips. thats what i have. every time i stand behind my car and have it rev up i get a hard on. one of the nicest sounding cars i have ever heard and im not saying it just because its mine. my friend has a mustang and loves it he can tell everytime i drive by his house it has such a distinked sound
this is a good point. loud sucks if its truck loud. deep groundrattling tones is what you need in an exhaust. try the single chamber flows. they release the beast!!

Not only will it sound like complete poo, doing this will cause a ton of turbulance and you will loose performance.
Not quite, true "glass packs" actually flow like garbage. The newer design straight threw type mufflers will outfllow any of the old school glass packs. My question is this. Why do you guys all want just a loud car? Loud for the sake of loud is very ricer. Exhaust is all about tone and depth, not just a blaring loud car. The engineers that design mufflers go threw a ton testing to find a muffler with good tone and flow, if were as simple as just "gutting" a muffler there would not be any aftermarket exhausts.

Just take them off an see if you like it. There not that hard to uninstall and reinstall. I drove my car like it for a day. Sounds like a drag car but it really effects performance if you don't have gears to help with low end.
