Default Transmission

I was wondering if the 2.3 litre 4 banger transmission is the same as a 5.0 transmission except for the bell housing.
It is a four speed.

they are both t5's but the 4 bangers tranny has different gearings and is not built to handle the same amount of torque as a 5.0 t5

I dont understand your question....the four speed is not a t-5 its a srod or something else i forgot. If thats the case then you need a different bellhousing for the t-5 and as far asgearing goes it depends on the year.

If it's 87 or later it's a T5 in the 4banger, but it has a lower tq threshold and a 2.95 1st gear.
