freeway and 4.10's
ya i noticed my fox dosnt like the high speeds
ive only pushed it to 110 and it felt pretty stable but still a small car at those speeds with a big engine it can be scary.
im going with 4.10's once i get my shift kit installed

i had my '85 up to 135 ... and it was getting floaty on the front...
however, foxes are very capable of high top end speeds ... there have been numerous articles written about foxes and the silver state challenge kind of racing. with a moderate suspenision upgrade a fox, and extra 65 hp, and some 2.73's a fox will pull 160. the biggest draw back to a fox is the brakes. PLEASE upgrade the entire brake system to something larger b4 doing runs over 100.....(and not on the street either).

I don't know alot about auto-stangs, but if your going to drive long distances everyday on a limited budget, you may think about going with 3.73's. 3.55's with my 5 speed do pretty good pushing my ol beater up the road, and i still get 20+mpg, but i know the aod will be different.
Also if your not planning on heads/cam anytime soon, i suggest getting a mild torque converter to slap in it along with the shift kit. it cost me $150 to put a clutch in, so i cant imagine a torque converter being too much more if any for labor. Summit sells B&M Tork Master Torque Converter 2000 rpm stall for $156 (should be ok with 4.10 gears, but should ask aod expert) You may be able to find a less aggressive converter if needed.
I had an old maverick with a C-4 cruis-a-matic in it, and noticed a NICE difference when i installed the converter and shift kit. It had 2.73 gears with a 7.5 rear, and would bark the tires everytime it shifted, and when i was cruising about 25-35 and stomped it, it'd cut loose
I paid:
$150 for my ford racing 3.55's
$10 for pinion bearing
$10 for speedo gear
$150 for install from local shop (you should get some redline synthetic gear oil for the swap,
the shop that did mine hooked me up)
you will need ford part number E3ZZ-17285-A for the speedo gear with the 4.10's. You can get it from ford racing, summit, or i ordered mine from johnsmustang.com over the net.
