Yah, distributor gears aren't usually a wearing part, but just to be safe I'd run a few fills of good ol' trusty regular oil through it so it all seats properly. Same thing with anything you change, cam, rear-end gears, valve-train, you never run synthetic right off the bat.

I have heard that once you go to a synthetic you shouldn't go back to reg. oil. Whether this is true or not I don't know, but I have had a few people tell me this, so until I am told different, I am not going to try it.

It ruined your motor? Never heard of that beofre, got any details after the teardown?

On first note I would have to agree with Liquid_02 on the seating of most items unlees you have new info on your previous motor.

Burning a valve is usually a result of a lean condition not an oiling issue...
