Default Busted mount

just picked this block up the other day and due to the price of it ($150) i didn't worry about looking it over first. noticed after bringing it home and starting disassembly that one of the mount locations was broken. i believe i could have the mount welded on til i buy a new motor, but wanted to get some info first. figured i'd find out what you guys think. heres a pic.

You could use some stuff called, oh damn, what is it. Well anyway, there'a some stuff out there that mixes like body filler and is as strong if not stronger than metal that can be drilled and tapped no less.

You could either fill in what you need and drill and tap, or

(I'm just throwing this out there, not sure if would work) put a bolt in there for what you can and put that metal filler in, let it dry and see if you can screw the bolt out. It may just get bonded to the filler though, which I just thought of so, you would oil the bolt and fill it in so the filler doesn't stick to the bolt.

LOL, I just thought of that while typinh...I don't...stop laughin at me...seriously...[]

That block could be welded. they are weldable but you need the part of it that fell off too.
It's kind of expensive but worth looking into I think.
Check around like at heavy equipment bulldozer type dealers.......

Cast can be welded. What do you think center sections are made of? They get welded to axle tubes all the time.

But like I said in his other thread, it may be more economical to get another block...they're everywhere.

where could i get one cheaply? the best i have found is about $800 and it still needs the .030 overbore. does anyone know where i can pick one up, already bored over, at a good price. i'm looking at at least 30k for the resto, anything i can do to save money helps.

by the way, the pic in my sig was hyjacked. it's a representation of what it will look like when i'm finished, with a few slight differences.

You are being raped royal if they want $800 for a 5.0 block.....
Thats within a couple hundred of what Ford gets for the sportsman block, I think.
Those blocks are $100-$150 around here.....
