Default Cam?

All Right,I got a '85 gt,with a fairly new rebuilt motor,.30 over, any way I want to put another cam I have in mind the Comp Cam magnum, the specs are adv.dur.280, 512 lift the rpm range is 2000-6000.
My question is,is this to much lift for an almost stock engine?

My engine is not an HO,because I have the firing order of a regular 5.0, which is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8

Right now my car runs 15.1 thats my best time so far,I live in new mexico so the air sucks.

if you have a stock motor with e6 heads you're doing pretty good with a 15.1.

a cam won't do much at all for you at this point. you are much better off, putting in some gears, and other bolt ons.

Also I can get a port job by a local performance shop,he's well known at the track a lot of people recomend him for custum engines, any I call him the other day to get a quote,I told him what I do with the car,he told me he would charge 480-500 buck for a port job and do a vavle job also,he said he would put 2.02 chevy valve in it.so I think I might get the port job soon when I save up some cash.

I'm not sure if the 85 mustangs had a 8.8 rear end. If it doesn't a whole rear end swap would have to be done. The 7.5's don't hold up well.
