Default wtf????

So this weekend mustang crapped out hardcore. It won't stay in any gear except reverse. It violently pops out of gear, and makes a sound very similiar to an explosion. Nothing unusual with the car, except that. It's bad enough that it's not drivable. WTF is going on???

man that sucks what it sounds like to me is the shift forks there are little plastic blocks that go on the end of your forks thay fit in the syncros and keep in in gear if those are worn or worn so bad they will fall of take out the tranny pull the top of and look see if they are still there!

do you have an aftermarket shifter? if you do you might have to back off on your sate stops. i put a bbk shifter on my old 87, it comes with eccentrics that you can move the shifter base a little closer or further away, when i tried putting it closer i had the same problem, put it in stock position and worked perfectly.

it could very well be the stops on your shifter. try backing out the stop bolts and see if it will stay in gear. the bolts could have just vibrated loose.
