Default 4.10vs2.73

I am taking out the stock 2.73 ring and pinion and replacing them with 4.10 on my mostly stock(bbk cold air, equal length headers w/ off-road x-pipe and flowmasters) '90 lx notchback w/AOD. I have a friend that drives an '86 LT1 IROC that I usually beat by half a car length. I should be done with the work tomorrow and he wants to race when I am done to see what the difference is. Any predictions as to how bad I will beat him now or if it will be noticible at all. And yes I know he drives a chevy but he doesn't complain when he loses which is more than I can say for most of them.

One... you will feel a HUGE difference. Two, you should let them break in first.

I love 4.10s' in a 5 speed....Imo i think for a n/a app.. 3.55's arent enough gear... unless your always on the highway then 3.55's arent going to cut it....I think they should get rid of those gears, or make it so the only way you can buy the gears is if you have proof of FI cause those gear wont cut it for a n/a stick...I run 4.10's in a 5-speed and they are perfect gear, I would pefer 4.30 for a car that see track or races, Im going to run 4.30's on then new stang while its n/a, then turbo time and then ill go to 3.73's for the turbo..

You should not try to install your own gears... its a very difficult install and should be left to professionals.
