i know my car isnt running to its full potential. shifting at 4500, i can only chirp the tires into 2nd. im pretty good at driving a stick, so i know its not me. my car just feels soft, and i dont know what it is. when i put my exhaust on is when i started having this problem. is it my car? or just me? the tires i have hook up pretty good, there 235s, and ive heard a larger diameter can cause sluggish performance. maybe i just need some gears?

 

I may be wrong, but I don't think a stock-engined mustang with stock gears should break loose in third.

 

you admit to having tires that hook up good, but you complain that it only chirps them in 2nd? im confused

 

youve got a good point. i confuse myself sometimes![&:] im just kinda wondering if my car should be able to do more. it doesnt feel like it has *****. maybe ive just gotten used to the power. i just barely beat a stock talon tsi last night. stock they run 15.1. i thought my car was faster than that.

 

The car only makes 225 horsepower at 4000 rpm. 300 torque at 3000 rpm. Really won't be much of a top end screamer. Or feel like there's anything on the top end for that matter. Usually a stock mustang won't chirp into third anyways.

the car stops making horsepower around 4700, so why would i shift at 5000 on a stock engine. i cant even get them to chirp into second shifting that late.

 

i spin through 1st and 2nd. i sometimes chirp 3rd. but my trans sucks so more often i miss 3rd. I have yet to see a stock mustang spinn through 2nd. when you can roll 40mph in second and dump it and the tires spinn than your car is starting to run good. untill than it has no *****.
