RE: 3.73's or 4.10's
You guys really need to take your heads out of your asses sometimes....
HERE ARE THE RULES FOR GEARS!!!!!
AOD: 3.73 or 4.10
5-speed RACE ONLY 4.10
5-speed DD w/highway driving 3.73
5-speed DD w/SC w/highway driving 3.55
3.55's will allow you to still keep your car in 4th gear in the 1/4 while s/c. Unlike some of you noobs that run... 6 or 9 psi. Be a man, get some *****, put in a REAL tuning system and drop 15+psi
If you REALLY want me to. i can make up a few tables showing speed/rpm with each of those gear sets.... per gear.... 1-5

RE: 3.73's or 4.10's
I'm aiming for 12's all motor first before any power adder. I'm not to sure what type of power adder I want. S/C or Turbo. I would love to have a turbo but I still love that S/C sound I just don't know what gear to go with

highway driving i do about 80-85 all depends.. would that be bad? This eventually is gonna be mostly just a track car. I'm getting a STI in a bout a month or so for a daily driver

Haha, I have an STi. The gas mileage is about the same as my fox. You should buy it from me

RE: 3.73's or 4.10's
So I figured out what a different gear ratio will do to the engine's rpm.. You take the differance in ratio of the new gear and the old one: 4.10 (new) and 3.08 (my old one) 4.10 - 3.08 = 1.02. Then you take that (1.02) and devide it by the original gear ratio (3.08). 1.02 / 3.08 = about .33 Take your target rpm (to see how much it will jump with the new gear ratio) say 2000 rpm and multiply it by the % it will jump (.33) 2000 x .33 = 660 you add it to your target and you get your new 2660. it works for any rpm, as your rpm will cange the higher it gets with a new gear ratio.
.33% is the how much change you'll see in rpm.
4.10 - 3.08 = 1.02
1.02 / 3.08 = .33
(target rpm) x .33 = new rpm
make sense?

RE: 3.73's or 4.10's
since when are there "rules" for gears? How can you put a rule on opinion? I love my 3.55s, they're just what i wanted and plenty for me and im glad i didnt go any lower. Does that mean i bought the wrong gear? just because a car is never gonna be on the highway doesnt necessarily mean you should do a low gear.
