Default Going to do the gears, screw the intake, this is my final decision!

I know, over the past couple months I have been driving you guys NUTS about my next mod, and a little while ago I got outbid on the cobra intake and have made my final decision to be gears. Well I did some reading and I'm expecting almost a .5-.7 drop in the 1/4 mile times with 3.73s/AOD. I would go with the 3.90 but they're kinda expensive and I can't find the speedo correction gear for my year of AOD (1992). I'm kinda scared about my highway gas mileage (I'm doing 75 the majority of the time but I guess after the install I can do 70 and drop the rpms a bit) dropping, but I think that it'll be worth it. No more monkeying around for me! lol, I'm doing the gears and not changing my mind again! If anyone has anything to say about going from a 3.27 to 3.73 please feel free to comment! I would like to go to 4.10, mustang tuning has the motive 4.10 gears on sale for 109.00!!!, but I think that 3000 rpms at 70mph is kind of high for me since I'm always going between 50 and 75 mph.

So here's my list...
3.73 Motive performance gears-129.00
8.8 rearend bearing set-74.99 (everything is included to rebuild rear end)
trac-loc rebuild-40.00
labor-320.00

its an auto. i agree with tim and get the 4.10s. also ull notice that for 3.55, 3.73, and 4.10s all use the same (white) 23 speedo gear.

Well im glad you made your decision, my buddy has the motive gears and they dont whine unless they are installed wrong also its kinda hard to hear it with his exhuast. i personally went with frpp, they work great i think they are like $30-$40 more tho. whatever you choose(4.10 or 3.73) you wont be unsatisfied i just have a problem with your estimate of .5-.7 1/10ths only going from 3.27 to 3.73 i dont think it will be that much gain, but then again i havent delt with any autos just my .02, but anyway goodluck with it all. have fun.
