Default Computer Adjustments

Is it necessary to adjust the computer after installing new injectors and MAF? My car is idling very poorly and afters peaking with a technician, he said it was necessary to have the computer adjusted so it knows what new parameters to run by. Has anyone done this after installing new MAF and injectors? I'd imagine that you'd need to have it dyno tuned to do something like this? Any info? [:@]

Just for clarification, is the mechanic talking about resetting the computer, or is he talking about flashing it with a new program?
