What years/cars came with the styling bar stock?, my Vin number reads 87 Four banger, and it apparently isnt one since it has the cobra bumpers. Now i have heard that the 93 cobras came with them stock, so im believeing my interior is from a 93 cobra. If that is true than i have a cobra engine??? what would be the best way to find out because the name plate is not on the engine, is there anywhere i can look on the interior or engine to tell if its from a cobra or not??? Thanks guys for any info at all. i know i bought a POS so dont tell me.

To find out what engine you have you will need to get the engines code off the block.Thats located on the passenger side above the starter.I had to pull my starter off to see mine so i suppose you will too.

From the sounds of it someone swapped the 4 banger for a 5.0 and put on the cobra parts.You may very well have a cobra motor if they had a full cobra donor.Get that engine number to be sure though.

i think by styling bar he meant a light bar or a 1 bar "roll bar".

would be a gr8 if it was a cobra Frankinstien ay?since u werent too clear on things like engine size along with other things its hard to tell exactly what u got didnt mention if it was a V8 or 4 sparker.. from the info you gave it sounds to me to be a 4 cylinder stang w/ hopefully a 5.0 engine, a lightbar w/ no light, and fancy bumpers....

yes it is the roll bar looking style bar, . So if i look under the starter i can find the engine codes, what exactly would i be looking for though to tell if it is a cobra engine, and yes i am hoping that is what it is from the looks of the rest of the car, considering i only paid 2400 and all it needs is a paint job. Runs strong, only problem is my fanclutch went out, which maid my water pump **** up, other than that thats it. So how big of a bitch is it tto take my starter off. im hiping my v-8 does turn out to be a cobra, if so thats cool if not than oh well its still a 5.0, Thanks alot guys

i just had to change my starter about a month ago so i can tell thats its really not that bad.. you might have to unbolt a couple things from underneath to get to it if you cant see the numbers w/o moving some stuff. u shouldnt have to though.. just get u a flash light and a grease rag and u should be ok.

As far as I ever knew.. Style bars were not factory at all. At least in those years. Ford does sell and produce a style bar.. but I never knew that convertibles were sold with the bar. Also. If your car is an 87.. It cant be a cobra if its a convertible right? Im confused.. but hope this helps.

stang chic, his car didnt come stock w/ a style bar.. he had a donor interior and engine put in.. he's crossin his fingers its a cobra.. lol

yeah im hoping it is a cobra if it is my investment wasnt bad, especially the insureance aspect lol, would i have to pull anything else off other than the starter to get the codes, once i do this what numbers would i be hoping for to tell if its a cobra???
