do 5.0's have a govenor?

 

i think some people call it redline.

 

I baught my stang in Germany and drove it to the max on the Germany free highway. It had a ways to go before redline in fifth gear can you explain that??

The car was stopping you at a certain speed even though you had a few RPM's left before redline? If so, it's not cuz it's governed. It's probably because you didn't have enough power. between wind resistance, weight of car, and power, not to mention gearing you may have just run out of total power. It may have been working as hard as it could but just couldn't get any faster. What year is it? What does your speedo go up to 85 or 140? What MPH did it stop at?

 

I took my stock 91 to 140 when I first got it..

 

89 lx hatchback 5.0 5 sp. 85 mph speedo. Tacked out way past at the trip odomotor. magnaflow catback..fenderwell mac cold air intake. Do stock geared stangs not tack out. I don't recall it being a windy day. Though I do recall going ****ing fast..

 

in 4th ive been 130 something and still had 5th, so im guessing no. only cuz most of the cars ive driven stopped around 115-120.

 

Yeah fourth PULLED hard. fifth died out. I have suspicion perhaps my cooling has a clog. I flushed it and only replaced it with less than half of what I expected. The plug on the bottom right only dripped so I ended up pulling off the tube. Purhaps to high temp was my problem do you know the running temp in 65 ferenhight???

 

You won't get much pull if any out of 5th!
