Default Indication that my wheel bearings are toast.

Well when im just normally driving, I hear this little squeel, and it gets worse and worse if i gain speed. If im coming to a stop, it slows down, therefore just letting me know that I think the wheel bearings are bad. It doesnt do this all the time, which is weird, but about 65% of the time. How hard is it to replace the wheel bearings, and could this be the problem? Thanks

Does the pitch of the noise change if you turn the wheels back and forth while driving? Maybe it's the wear indicator for the brakes making the noise.

I dont know, But the brakes do sqeak when braking sometimes. So I think my inner pads are bad, because the right side outer ones are fine.

Is it more of a sqealing, scraping type metalic noise? That would be the brakes. If it's a low humming type noise that change while turning the wheel back and forth while driving, that would be the bearings.

well my buddy that has a 530 hp capri, checked my car for bad wheel bearings, by jacking up the car and trying to move the wheel inward to see if it rattled. that turned out fine and nothing was out of the ordinary. i think it might be my brakes. it is a loud sqeal, kinda like a belt sqeal but its definately nothing in the engine.

but another thing thats odd is that when my cars at idle, sometimes it has a whistling noise, like a bad pulley bearing or something. i dont know i got a few issues that im trying to pinpoint and fix... lol.

but for the engine, i dont think its making this noise, because when it happens, i drop into Neutral and rev, and it does nothing. but when i slow down, the noise decreases, kinda like a slowly decreasing squeal, until you start accelerating again.

i dont have that good of stopping power either.

they still can wear out... it's just how it's been treated over the years and stuff

just take it apart and see if anything looks broken
