Default AOD to t-5 conversion-Worth it??

Just like the title says, i just got my mustang, she is a 91 5.0 with an AOD tranny. My question is, would it be worth it to convert the car to a standard? I love driving standards, and thats what i was originally searching for, but just got a good deal on this stang. What are the Pro's/Cons of the swap? and finally(i know its a long shot) but is there anyone out there who would be looking to trade a 5 speed for a good working AOD(i'm told it has a shift kit!)?

if your ever wanting to do much to your car, do yourself a favor and save up and get you a Tremec. You will be much happier when you get your engine built and you dont have to worry about your tranny breaking everytime you run down the track or come off a stop light hard. Peace of mind is worth every bit of the money for the conversion. Trust me, im on my 3rd T5 and its going out to. [:@]

i like manuel a lot better becasue you can control your engine more and it's more fun round turns but if you actually wanna drag car then a beefed up automatic is actually faster because it takes a lot shorter of time to shift

An automatic car can still be a very fun car to drive. Auto + shift kit + 4.10's + TC = AWSOME

5 speeds are pretty fun to drive and all, but considering how much you'd spend on an upgraded 5 speed, clutch, and all the misc hardware you could just buy a bad *** AOD that can hold like 500TQ and shifts faster than 99.99% of the people who drive 5 speeds. AOD also dont miss shifts, bend forks ect. AOD will perform the same way everytime, 5 speed if you dont rev at the right RPM you might spin/bog. Id say get a beefed up AOD and a 2500 stall converter and you wont ever think about a 5 speed. I dont know if youve ever been in a muscle car with a performance AOD/AODE/C4/C6 but they shift fast as H E L L. Plus its nice being in traffic with an AOD . But ya for overall 2 5.0's with identical mods, one with performance AOD, once with Performance 5 speed, the 5 speed will win most of the time unless he bogs/spins/miss gear/grinds/clutch slips or the guy/girl is terrible with a 5 speed.

Just my .02

DO IT! I completed a AODE to T-5 swap on my 95 GT and the difference is night and day, it's like having a completely new car. The car has much more launch power and is much more fun to drive. The P.O.S AODE is the biggest piece of junk that I have ever driven in any car.
