Body work
Alright, what i want to do is repaint my car after i strip the paint off and fix all the dents.
What i am wondering for the dents, because i wont be able to pop them all.... can you use lead as a filler insted of something like bondo? I have heard bad things about how bondo will come off...
Also if anyone else has done this all i want is to repaint the exterior, not the whole chassis. how long would it take??

RE: Body work
lead work is a dying art, they dont even address this at my school thats specializes in collision repair and body work with lead is being abonded because of the health risks associated with the use of lead! the problem with bodyfiller usage is proper prep procedures u must wash the car then wipe down the area to be repaired with wax and grease remover then take the area to bare metal! with at the least an 80 grit scratch but a grinder work great around 36grit! apply the filler let sit up block out and prime!

RE: Body work
Ever hear the term "lead sled" the old timers used lead when chopping roofs etc. The factories used lead where the quarters meet the roof. It's heavy, you need a torch, etc. Lightweight body fillers are a much better alternative if done right. If you really want to use lead, visit Eastwood's site it'll give you the low down on lead. Like 65 said, use 36 in the metal to give the bondo some tooth to bite into.
