Default Deleting EGR

Basically I got a 70mm Holley TB and a 73mm C&L MAF to go with it so I am in need of an EGR spacer, BUT, i was wondering if anybody has had any luck with deleting the EGR? Then I could just get a throttle body spacer plate and keep my intake cool.

If so, what did you do to delete it?

So you didn't have to play with any electronics or anything? and it still runs fine?

EDIT:

So just now I noticed how much of a pain in the *** it is to find a TB Spacer minus any piping or EGR for anything other than Stock TB size. Where could I find a TB spacer for a 70mm TB?

^^your egr is still on i bet. if you take it off, you need a plug to tell the computer that its still there. or get smart and make one lol. try searching about egr. there is a hole long post and i explned about how to make it so you dont get a code.

Some people have had success with just taking it off. Some others get pinging. But i got a chip for mine to turn it off. A friend did it for me. He's good with all that kinda stuff.

you could probably find something from accufab. or like tim said, make one.

what i want to know, is if you're not running cats and a smog pump, and you block off the egr and take it off, what happens?

Some people get detonation when they just take it off. Others dont and its fine when they take it off. Most of the time you have to have someone program computer to forget about the EGR function, i.e. automatically advancing the timing. The EGR is off at W.O.T. and at idle. It only comes on during the mid-range cruising. But in my head, it heats up your intake causing the intake charge to be hotter not to mention clogging your intake with carbon. So i had mine deleted. Some do it because its ugly as hell. I did it so my intake temp would be cooler. I even got intake gaskets that block off the port in the heads where the exhaust gases come from. So my intake is ALOT cooler now. I used to coulnt touch it with my hands for long, it got to hot. Now i can lay my hand on it for a good while without getting burned.
