Default 370ci out of a 302?

well i was reading the new mm&ff and noticed in one of there articles talking about a 347 there talking about further stroking it to a 370? how streetable is this? realistic? and if this is possible why isn't it more common cause if that were the case i would have went to 370 instead of 347. thanks for the input

bad idea...

just get a 351w... 347's suffer from "reliablity issues" anyway, and they burn a bunch of oil.... not worth it IMHO.

besides... the 351 fits nicely

i bet that would be rough on a motor. i like my 347 but 370 seems out of the question.

a 347 does not burn that much oil. the older kits yes, the newer ones no. the oil ring used to intercect with the rist pin. thats what caused them to burn so much oil.

I've never heard of a 302 that was bored/stroked to 370.
Car 'zines make plenty of mistakes.
I do know that it is possible to go to 355 with a 302 block.....

yea thats the farthest i ever heard was a 355 CI out of a 5.0. i never heard of going to 370. even a 355 out of a 302 is streching it.

Outfit that wants to sell the 355 kits also wants you to use spacer on the top of the block thats like .080. I guess you use a head gasket on each side of it or something. sounds mickey mouse to me.
I'd stay away from it.....
As for anything past overbore of .030 on a 302 production block I think that it's sort of a bad idea.......
