all my stangs have been stick. All have been carb except the 87 and now this 86. With the exception of this 86, all the rest were YEARS ago (when I was young and stupid). I think the 82 was a SROD. I'm still stupid, but as of right now (even after having the 86 for a couple of weeks), my favorite was the 84. Man that thing ran hard. When you were on it and the vaccum secondarys opened (it was like nitrous). Just sucked you back in the seat. Nope, never owned or driven a 'automatic' 5.0. I'd like to someday to do some comparisons.

yeah i love my 84 had some problems with it one was the carb took a dump on me so i got a new 600cfm with vaccum secondaries. fast car i was able to keep up with an audi s4 and all i have is full exhaust and timing bumped to 14* i was very surprised. one question how did your 84 handle? i think mine takes turns like no other i dont under stand it the car out handles most cars i have ever driven and my suspention is all original riding 175k so it shot

along with being my favorite (so far), the 84 handled like dream. I remember (back in 86-87) racing some guys with big block mopars. I couldn't match the HP, so I lead them to some 'back country roads'. I lost them instantly. The 84 was like a slot car, don't really know if I could have pushed it to far! The Mopar guys always agreed also, they they lost due to handleing.

I dunno. wheel base, tires, springs, etc shouldn't have changed form 84 to 85 (i've owned both). the 84 was a beast. It ran like a raped ape. I had that car the year I graduated H.S. I put 30,000 on it in the summer of 86! I won't say alll 84's are like that, but mine was awesome. at the time, it dominated everything in my town....except for the one or two guys who had big block vettes, etc.

This coming winter I plan to 'stroke' this 86. Either a 302 or a 351W. I have rebuilt t5 sitting here. the rebuilt block and the t5 should 'get me going'. For now it's just 'fun' again 'cruising' with a mean 'sounding' car. Can't wait for the h-pipe as it will get 'meaner'.
lol.

oh yeah it will. did your 84 ever idle ruff? mine was running really smooth now really rough and i met a guy today that had an 84 and it ran so much smoother than mine. i think it might be my plugs. i got boush platinums about 2 weeks ago and i dont think my car liked them kinda rejected them after a couple days. my friend said boush sucks for domestic HO cars that i should stick with stock or autoligh platinums
