hello all!! i have a pinging problem, as you can tell. i have a 94 gt with a 5.0 M/T of course. and i have own the car for about 5 yrs now and it has ALWAYS pinged. the car now has about 113000 on it now. ok, lets see what i have done so far. i have a off road h-pipe with shorty headers and a K&N filter. these are the only mods that i have done to the car. the car pings with no matter what kind of gas i use. low or high octang. i have adjusted the timming from 6 degrees to 14 degrees and it STILL PINGS!!!!! I have changed the module and the pick-up in the distributor, wires and the spark plugs. oh yes i have pulled the plug before i set the timming. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS!!!! pls help!!!! thanks

well you could be running lean always make sure you check ur FP when you change a pump, regulator, etc. Runnig lean will cause pinging. Pinging will destroy your rod bearings by the way. Its detonation, destroys your pistons to.

Have u made sure you EGR is working? It lets exhaust gases back into the intake and the computer has to advance the timing to compensate for the slower burning rate of those exhaust gases, when the EGR isnt working the computer still advances the timing but there is no exhause gas present....so, ping, ping, ping. Retard your timing a good bit till it goes away and see where its at, im not sure how much the timing is advanced by the computer, i think its only like 4degrees. Ive done this before, but im not exspert. My friends 95 was doing this.
